I am sure you are wondering, um… she said she was going to share things from her Germany trip? Yeah well there were octopus there. There was only one and it wasn’t real, but it was super funny how we found him. We hijacked a reserved table at Oktoberfest after our reservation ended. We claimed the table ours and everybody wanted to sit with us, because we only had 4 and the table fit 10! One very nice group of four people, 1 German and 3 Americans from Arizona asked to sit with us. They seemed nice and the one woman was so grateful and happy we would share she offered a gift. Apparently, she imports and resales jewelery and she gave me this crazy Swarovski crystal octopus ring. I have no idea when I might wear it again, but the thing is ridiculously awesome. Which brings us back to this multicolored octopus on today’s card. The octopus is a little wrapped shape as the ring, so I just drew a normal one all sparkly and such. Hope you are enjoying my silly memories and random content right now.

Today is the last Guest Artist!
I am sad to see the Guest Artist postcards come to a close, but it ends with one of my favorites! I might have a slightly a biased opinion, but I had a big smile on my face when I got Varick Rosete’s addition to the project. Throughout the whole project everyone’s postcards have surprised me, but I think my boyfriend was the most surprised when he got the mail and found this. He called me immediately to aske if I have met Varick in person. I responded no and then was asked, “How does he know what you look like?!?!” I could only laugh and couldn’t wait to get home to see the card.
It is true I haven’t met Varick. The lovely Thy Doan hooked me up with him (another AIGA connection and hopefully new friend) when I had told her about the project. I am so glad that like Thy, Varick was up for drawing a postcard. I have no confirmation that the illustration really is me, but if you check out my twitter picture and compare…. seems pretty similar to me! Thanks so much Varick and I hope to run into you next week at AIGA’s PIVOT in Phoenix, AZ.

Jenn’s postcard immediately made me think of fall. Pumpkins are so great and it made me think of these pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that I whipped up multiple times last year. I might just have to carve up a pumpkin or two when I get back after seeing this card. Although, I don’t think I can find a pumpkin quite as large as Jenn dreamed up.

Jenn included that she likes pumpkins… a lot! Hopefully you do too.
Katie’s postcard is so much fun. I love the relationship between the two chairs and the simplicity of the whole card. If you look back at some of the first postcard cards many of them where about the adventures and things my boyfriend and I had done. Katie’s card captures that same emotion I got from looking at those cards and puts a big smile on my face.
I also put a picture of the stamp that Katie used, because I thought it fit the furniture theme that was used. Plus it was just fun to see people use other stamps then the boring 29 cent postcard stamps.

Katie said she was inspired by my adventure to Europe and contributed to Wandering Poste with some Skandinavisk loven’. Illustrated here is Arne Jacobsen’s Ant and Series-7 chairs are saying hi!
Giraffe! In honor the the Doxiraffe!
The card was created in honor of Bogie’s costume contest win at the San Francisco Giant’s Dog Days game yesterday! We were 1 of 9 out of everyone (about 500 dogs + all the other fans in normal attendance) to be in the contest on the field in front of everyone 10 min before the game started! It was judged by fan cheers and we won! The Doxiraffe won! See the reblog below from a fan that pulled the image from the SF Giants twitter feed.
I am sure you are wondering why a giraffe costume? Well if you are a fan of Giants baseball you might have heard of the baby giraffe. They started calling Brandon Belt aka the Rookie the baby giraffe not to long ago. Mostly because he is young and well sorta runs like a giraffe maybe? I am not exactly sure how he got the nick name, but we capitalized on the new nickname and it worked out! Check out photos of Bogie in his costume here.
